How did the NTA compensate students for the time loss during the exam?

During the NEET 2024 exam, some students faced issues such as technical glitches or disruptions that caused them to lose time. To address this, the NTA compensated those affected students by revising their marks. The revision of marks ranged from a deduction of -20 marks to an addition of 720 marks, depending on the impact of the time loss on their performance in the exam. This compensation was a measure taken by the NTA to ensure fairness and provide relief to the students who experienced time loss during the exam.

What is the Reason behind 60+ Toppers in NEET (UG) 2024 ?

In 2023, a total of 20,38,596 candidates appeared for the exam, and this number increased to 23,33,297 in 2024. With more candidates appearing, there was naturally an increase in high scorers. The exam authorities received 13,373 challenges to the answer key for a Physics question, and after review, it was decided that two options should be considered correct instead of one due to differences between old and new editions of the textbook. Out of the 67 candidates who scored full marks, 44 benefited from the answer key revision and 06 received compensatory marks for loss of time. It’s important to note that the toppers are from various regions across the country, as indicated in the press release dated 04.06.2024.

What procedures has NTA adopted for transparency across all its examinations?

According to the standard practice, NTA Examinations, including NEET (UG), results are announced as soon as all the necessary checks in the result processing are completed after the Answer Key challenge period. NTA successfully declared the results of about 23 lakh candidates within 30 days. The results for JEE (Main) 2024 Session-1 were announced in just 11 days, and for Session-2 (combined with Session-1) in 15 days. Similarly, the NEET (UG) 2024 results have been processed in line with the established procedure. NTA follows a transparent process for all its examinations. It provides necessary information to candidates through Advance City Intimation, Admit Card, Advisories for examination, display of scanned copies of OMRs and recorded responses, inviting objections to Provisional Answer Keys, publishing Final Answer Keys on the Official website, and sending scanned OMR Answer Sheets and Score Cards through emails. Moreover, relevant statistics are regularly shared with the candidates and the public through briefings/press releases. This same procedure has been adopted for NEET (UG) 2024.
