Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar denied interfering in the pune porsche case, while multiple arrests have been made, including the teenager’s parents and hospital staff, for attempting to manipulate evidence.

Early on May 19, in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar, two software engineers were killed when a Porsche driven by an allegedly inebriated teenager struck them.

In reference to the Porsche accident case, Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar denied on Saturday that he had called the Pune Police commissioner.

“I haven’t made a single call to the commissioner of police in this case, but I often phone him over multiple issues,” PTI reported Pawar as saying. Early on May 19, two software engineers, Anish Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, were killed in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar when a Porsche driven by an allegedly inebriated teenager struck them. Pawar also backed Sunil Tingre, an MLA from his party, who is under fire for allegedly interfering to make sure the teenager got preferential treatment from the police.

“The incident site is represented by MLA Sunil Tingre. The local MLA usually pays a visit to the scene of such occurrences. Did Sunil Tingre attempt to keep the issue quiet? The accusations made against him are unfounded,” he said.

The day after the accident, Ajit Pawar claimed, Pune police were given instructions to conduct a thorough investigation by deputy chief of state Devendra Fadnavis, who oversees the home department.

Even the chief minister, Eknath Shinde, has issued appropriate directives. Those police officers who had first stalled the process were dealt with. Police have also taken action against those connected to the case from Sassoon General Hospital, he said.

The youngster is being housed in an observation home until June 5. Arrested for allegedly abducting the family’s driver and pressuring him to take the fallout are his father Vishal Agarwal and grandfather Surendra Agarwal. Both are in court custody at the moment.

Arrested as well are two doctors and a Sassoon hospital employee who allegedly exchanged the youngster’s blood samples with his mother’s in order to prove that he was not intoxicated at the time of the accident.

Saturday, the Pune Police detained the mother of the accused teenager. According to Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, the blood samples of the youngster and his mother were switched during the accident investigation. Agency inputs included.
