In the third phase of Lok Sabha elections on Tuesday, May 7, about 65 votes were recorded in 93 constituencies in 11 states and union territories. Sporadic incidents of violence took place in West Bengal. According to the data released late night by the Election Commission, the highest turnout was in Assam.

Voting was recorded at 81.1%, followed by West Bengal at 76.52% and Goa at 75.2%, while UP recorded the lowest at 57.34%. Bihar was at 58.8%, Gujarat at 59.5%, and Maharashtra slightly better at 61.5%. Among the remaining states and union territories, Chhattisgarh recorded 71.07%, Dadar Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu at 69.77%, Karnataka at 7.41%, and Madhya Pradesh at 66.5%. Voting has been completed on 282 seats out of 543 Lok Sabha seats. The total voter turnout in the first and second phase was 66.1% and 66.7% respectively. PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah exercised their franchise in Gujarat where elections were held on 25 seats, which is 1 more than the Lok Sabha elections.
