Former Indian team captain Virat Kohli and wicketkeeper KL Rahul will not be able to play in the next round of Ranji Trophy matches. Despite former cricketers and experts repeatedly reiterating the importance of domestic cricket, both these players will not be available to participate in Ranji matches for their team. According to the report of ESPNCricinfo, both of them have told the BCCI medical staff that they are injured. Because of this, he will not be able to play in the Ranji Trophy matches starting from January 23.

According to reports, Kohli had neck pain and had taken an injection on January 8. The last match of the Test series in Australia was played between 3 and 6 January. He told the BCCI medical staff that he was still feeling pain, which ruled him out of Delhi’s match against Saurashtra in Rajkot.

Talking about KL Rahul, he has an elbow problem due to which he will not be able to play in Karnataka’s match against Punjab in Bengaluru. On Thursday, BCCI released a list for all the players in which it was made mandatory to play in domestic cricket. If a player is not available, he will have to seek permission from chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar.
