New Delhi. India announced the team for the upcoming home T20 series against England. The command of the team is in the hands of Suryakumar Yadav while all-rounder Akshar Patel will handle the responsibility of vice captain. The first T20 match of the series will be played in Kolkata on 22 January. Young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy is also included in the T20 team. Due to ankle injury, Shami was out of Team India since November 2023 after the ODI World Cup final. He also got its surgery done. Shami made a comeback in Ranji Trophy after recovering from injury. After this he also proved his fitness in Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Sanju Samson has also got a chance in the 15-member Indian T20 team selected against England. Spinner Varun Chakraborty, who recently performed brilliantly in domestic cricket, was successful in making a place in the team. The selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar has not yet announced the team for the ODI and Champions Trophy against England. BCCI has postponed it for some time. Nitish Kumar Reddy, Dhruv Jurel and Harshit Rana have returned to the team.
