New Delhi. Former Indian batsman Sanjay Manjrekar suggested Virat Kohli, who was out of form, to play in the English County Championship to gain form before the Test series in England. India and England will play a five-Test series in June-July and Kohli will be desperate to improve his game after recent disappointing performances against New Zealand and Australia.
In ‘Star Sports’ ‘Deep Point Podcast’, Manjrekar advised the Indian team to practice with the red ball to adjust to the conditions before the start of the England tour. Manjrekar said, “Kohli needs to play a lot of red ball cricket. The first Test in England is in June while the County Championship will start in April. He can join the county team like Pujara and get the necessary match practice.

He said, “India can then assess his performance in the initial Test matches.” If there is improvement in his batting then he can continue playing for the team. We don’t want Kohli to go there and struggle as we have seen before. This will not be good for Indian cricket. Playing county cricket could be a very wise move for him.
