During this, Jaideep Ahlawat said that he has been working without taking a break since Paatal Lok season one. Writer-creator of ‘Paatal Lok 2’ Sudeep Sharma, starcast Tilottama Shome and Jaideep Ahlawat had a special conversation with Dainik Bhaskar.
Sudeep, you weave social issues very beautifully. The trailer of ‘Paatal Lok 2’ is getting very good response from people. How are you feeling?
This show is very close to the hearts of all of us. The entire team has put in their lives to make it better. Seeing people’s reaction brings a feeling of satisfaction, but also a little nervousness. We have really made it well, this will be known only after the release. Well, we all are very excited about this show.
Jaideep, you completely embraced your character in Paatal Lok season one. How have you lived the character this time?
The process of assimilating the character was the same as in the first season. It was true that before the shooting of ‘Paatal Lok 2’, I had seen some scenes of season one. Now the story has moved ahead by two-two and a half years. There have been changes in the lives of many characters. There has also been a change in the life of Hathiram Chaudhary.
It was important for me to understand how Hathiram is now, what is his thinking? I knew my team was perfect. I just want to flow with them. Whenever I reached the set, it seemed that everything was happening for Hathiram. Such a bond has been formed with our team that I was so confident that nothing would go wrong.
Tilottama, you have become a part of Paatal Lok for the first time. What would you like to say about this show?
The biggest feature of this show is that not only the men’s characters but also the women’s characters have been written with great depth. I liked this very much. The kind of role I am playing in this show, I had never played such a role before. In this I am playing the role of Meghna, who knows very well what her responsibilities are.
Tillotama Shome is playing the role of Meghna in ‘Paatal Lok 2’.
What kind of preparation did you do for the character?
I was thinking about what to prepare, but the script was written so well and in complete detail that I didn’t get time to think. This made our work much easier. Homework was given to catch a slight accent. Because this character is from Nagaland.
Sudeep, you raise social, political and caste issues very boldly in your show, you are not afraid. Where do you get this thinking from?
We will feel scared when we do something wrong. I bring stories from a place I love. Now love does not mean that we ignore the shortcomings there. If there is any evil there, light should be shed on it. This eliminates the evil there. There are evils in our family too, it does not mean that we should ignore them.
Jaideep, what has changed in real life and on screen from the first season to the second season?
This change came in real life because a lot of work was done. It has been 4 years since the release of Paatal Lok Season One. Till date I have not taken leave. Got a chance to work with good stories, good characters and good people. I look forward to more good things. When it comes to ‘Paatal Lok 2’, you will see what changes have happened in Hathiram’s life. Hathiram Chaudhary is not just a character, but he has become a mirror showing the problems of society and humanity.
Tilottama, we will definitely see a new color and flavor in your character, what new are you bringing to it from your side?
I don’t know what has happened? Yes, I am very excited about this show. There are so many memories of shooting every day. This kind of character has never been played before. I have also done action scenes in it. I am excited and a little scared about it.
Sudeep, you have woven the story of North East in this series, will we be able to see the story of Manipur in any of your series?
This time the purpose of bringing the story of North East was only because I grew up in Assam. I have friends in Nagaland. I have traveled there. I knew about that place. I have a very close relationship with the North East. Some of my family are still there. I wanted to look at my childhood from a writer’s perspective. My journey will also be visible somewhere in it. As far as Manipur is concerned, I don’t know yet what I will do next.
Jaideep, any special moment during the shooting that you would like to share?
I am happy like a child every day. I wake up in the morning and reach the set. I try to be a part of whatever happens there. Whether it’s my scene or not. Enjoying the whole atmosphere. We have shot such scenes in Nagaland which we had never imagined. We shot a fight sequence for 5 consecutive days. During that time I suffered a lot of injuries, broken heads, broken knees. Even today I can’t forget those five days of shooting. There are so many moments that stay with you forever. What we learn during that time is a different thing.
