Fake Encounter Cops Convicted: Akshay Shinde, accused of sexual exploitation in Badlapur, Maharashtra, died in a police encounter on September 23 last year. After this, magistrate inquiry was ordered. And now the report of Mumbai High Court has been presented in this case on January 20. Out of which the encounter has been found to be fake. The court has held five policemen responsible for this.
But this is not the first case. When such a fake encounter has come to light in the country. Many such cases have come to light in the country. In many of these fake encounters, policemen have even been sentenced. Let us tell you. How many policemen have been punished so far in fake encounters?
UP is at the forefront in this matter
According to the data released in the year 2023, UP Police conducted more than 10,000 encounters within 6 years. Many of which were fake encounters. According to the data released by the Central Government, a total of 655 fake encounters took place in the country from the year 2017 to the year 2022. Of these, 117 fake encounters took place in Uttar Pradesh, although how many police personnel were punished in these. Till now, exact figures have not been released.
These policemen have been punished
In the year 2006, the CBI court of Ghaziabad had proved nine policemen guilty in the fake encounter case in Etah. Out of which five policemen were sentenced to life imprisonment while four policemen were sentenced to 5 years each. In 1992, two youths were kidnapped and had a fake encounter in Tarn Taran, Punjab. In which now the CBI court has sentenced 3 police personnel including the former SHO of Punjab Police to life imprisonment.

In the year 2009, a fake encounter of a young man who had come for a job in Dehradun was done. In this case, 17 policemen were sentenced to life imprisonment. In 1998, the Special CBI Court had sentenced several policemen to life imprisonment on charges of fake encounter in Purnia, Bihar.

Punishment is not given in all fake encounters?
Many such counters are fake. In which police personnel do not get punished. In fact, the court gives sentence in such cases only on the basis of complete evidence. Many times police personnel are released due to lack of evidence.
