New Delhi. The teams of Maharashtra and Karnataka have entered the semi-finals of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25. Four-time champion Karnataka defeated Baroda by 5 runs in a thrilling match, while Maharashtra defeated Punjab by 70 runs to book its ticket to the last 4. Young Arshin Kulkarni scored his first century in List A cricket while wicketkeeper batsman Nitin Naik’s aggressive century helped Maharashtra register a spectacular win over Punjab. Kulkarni scored 107 runs in 137 balls and made a century partnership with Ankit Bawne (60 runs in 85 balls). After this, Naik scored unbeaten 52 runs in 29 balls and took the team to 275 runs for six wickets.
In reply, Punjab’s wickets kept falling at regular intervals and the team was not seen in the match even once. Arshdeep Singh, batting at number nine, scored 49 runs in 39 balls but the entire team scored 44. Was out for 205 runs in 4 overs. For Maharashtra, Mukesh Chaudhary took three wickets for 44 runs in eight overs and Pradeep Dadhe took two wickets for 31 runs in 9.4 overs. Maharashtra had a very bad start when they were sent to bat first and their two wickets fell for eight runs. India’s left arm fast bowler Arshdeep bowled an excellent first spell and sent Ruturaj Gaikwad (5) and Siddhesh Veer (0) to the pavilion.
