Every year more than two lakh students reach Kota for JEE and NEET preparation coaching


Kota district of Rajasthan is considered the hub of JEE and NEET preparation. Every year more than 2.5 lakh students from different states come here to prepare for medical and engineering entrance exams. But do you know how many of them pass the entrance from here? The situation is such that every year dozens of children are committing suicide due to not being able to pass. Recently, two students committed suicide within 24 hours. Whereas in August 2023, 22 students had committed suicide in a single month.

More than 2.5 lakh students come to study in Kota.

If we talk about the business of Kota, there are about 12 big coaching institutes in Kota which provide preparation for medical and engineering entrance. Along with this, there are also 55 small institutes in which students are studying. The estimated cost of accommodation and food for a student every year is Rs 2 lakh to 2.50 lakh. More than 2 lakh students come to Kota from other states and every year more than 2.5 lakh students come to Kota with their dreams. An estimate also says that there are 17740 seats in 23 IITs in India. There are 32 NITs which have 23954 seats. But the number of students preparing for it and appearing for the exam is continuously increasing.

17,740 seats in IIT, more than 10 lakh students appear for JEE

Most of the students who pass 12th board exam with Maths subject dream of admission in IIT. After the release of JEE Advanced results, students are allotted seats in IITs only through JoSAA counselling. IIT seats have been increased in JoSAA seat matrix in 2024. Let us tell you that there are a total of 23 IITs in the country. Last year the number of seats in these 23 IITs was 17,385. From this year, 355 seats have been increased in IIT. According to this, admission has been given on a total of 17,740 seats in 2024.

For admission in IIT, it is necessary to pass JEE exam. 11,79,569 students had registered in the April session of JEE Main 2024. At the same time, 10,67,959 students appeared in the examination in this session. A total of more than 22 lakh students appeared in both the sessions (January-April) of JEE Main 2024. At the same time, more than 2.5 lakh students appear in the JEE Advanced examination every year. After clearing JEE Main and JEE Advanced, students have to register for JoSAA counselling.

Every year 25 lakh students give NEET exam

NEET exam is mandatory for getting admission in MBBS and other UG courses at undergraduate level in India. NEET exam is conducted for admission to MBBS, BDS and other courses in top medical colleges except AIIMS. Every year about 25 lakh students appear in this examination. The number of candidates appearing in the NEET exam in the year 2024 was 23,33,297. Of these, 13,16,268 students had passed.

After qualifying in NEET exam, college cutoff is also seen for admission in medical colleges. According to NEET 2024, the number of medical seats in India was. There are 91,927 seats in MBBS, 26,949 seats in BDS, 52,720 seats in Medical and 603 seats in Veterinary. According to the Medical Council of India, in 2024 there were 41,388 medical seats through NEET in 272 government MBBS colleges. At the same time, there were 76,928 seats through NEET in 532 government and private colleges.
