of live science Report Of According toIn November last year, the company had unveiled its new lineup. Solid state batteries will be manufactured in this lineup in the future. According to reports, these batteries will start being integrated in the company’s EVs before the end of this decade.
Honda R&D Director Keiji Otsu has said that the all-solid-state battery is an innovative technology. This will prove to be a game changer. The special thing is that the new solid-state batteries can be 50 percent smaller, 35 percent lighter and 25 percent cheaper. The solid-state batteries the company has made so far are too small to be used in any vehicle. Now the company wants to make such batteries which can also be used in vehicles.
According to the report, however, Honda still faces many challenges, only after completing which it will be able to make solid state batteries a reality for EVs. It also uses roll-pressing technology, which can increase the density of the electrolyte layers and improve the contacts between the electrolyte and the anode and cathode.
Honda aims to produce long range solid state batteries and is keeping a timeline of 2030 for this. By 2040, the company wants to introduce cars with solid-state batteries that offer a range of 776 miles i.e. about 1249 kilometers.
