Indian army in Lebanon : There has been a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah. The Israeli army is still stationed in Lebanon. Air strikes are still being conducted on Hezbollah positions. The Indian Army remained stationed at Ground Zero throughout the war. It was believed that he would return home, but it did not happen. More than 10 thousand soldiers of the armies of 50 countries of the world, including Indian Army soldiers, are deployed on the Blue Line. Indian Army is deployed in the area near Marjayoun area of southern Lebanon. The good thing is that all the Indian soldiers remained safe during the entire war. No one was harmed. India has sent special armored fighting vehicles to Lebanon for the protection of its soldiers. Now the Indian Army will patrol the Blue Line areas with its indigenous armored vehicles.
Army sent armored vehicles
Preparations had already been made for the security of the Indian Army stationed in the war zone. Under this, 45 special armored fighting vehicles have been sent to Lebanon for the Indian Army. For the first time, the army has sent its armored vehicles to UNIFIL. In all the remaining UN missions where Indian soldiers are deployed, indigenous armored vehicles are already present. The Indian Army will have these special vehicles in a week or two. It is completely bullet proof, mine proof and can deal with any aerial threat. There are two types of peace keeping missions of the United Nations. The first is dry lease and wet lease. Only troops are sent under dry lease, all other logistics are provided by the UN. In wet lease, the country sends its own logistics along with its soldiers. Till now the Indian Army used to be on dry lease in Lebanon under UNIFIL. From this month it will operate under wet lease. At present, armored personal carrier vehicles hired by Sweden are used for patrolling and other work on the Blue Line.
Indian Army remained standing in the war zone
The total length of the Blue Line on the Lebanon-Israel border is 120 kilometers. This is a buffer zone where only UN forces are deployed. Their job is to work under the mandate of the United Nations. It is not in their charter to stop the war or get involved in it. Their job is only to maintain peace. Around 900 soldiers of the Indian Army are deployed. The Indian Army is deployed there under UN Mentored. Talking about the deployment of peacekeeping forces under UNIFIL, the Blue Line has been divided into two sectors. East Sector and West Sector. Brigade level strength is deployed in both the sectors i.e. there are 3 to 4 battalions in both the sectors. UNIFIL is headquartered in Nakura in the West Sector of southern Lebanon. Military battalions of European Union countries are deployed here. Battalions from Asian countries are deployed in the East Sector. The battalion of the Indian Army is deployed in the East Sector towards Golan Height.
