Sheikh Hasina is accused of embezzlement in the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant built by Russia.
The troubles of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina are not ending. Mohammad Yunus’s government is continuously making new allegations against him. Now the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) in Bangladesh has started investigation against Hasina and her family for embezzlement of about Rs 42,600 crore ($5 billion).
According to Dhaka Tribune, Hasina is accused of embezzlement in a Russian-designed nuclear power plant in Rooppur, 160 km from the capital Dhaka.
Indian companies also have stake in this plant being built by Russian government company Rosatom.
The construction work of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant was started in 2017. It is expected to be completed by 2025.
Accused of transferring embezzled money to Malaysia The decision to initiate an investigation against Hasina was taken when the Bangladesh High Court a few days ago asked the ACC why its inaction in this case should not be declared illegal?
Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, sister Rehana and niece Tulip Siddiq have been made accused in this case. It is alleged that he had transferred the embezzled amount to a Malaysian bank.
According to media reports, Tulip Siddiq, Sheikh Rehana and others had received 30% of the money laundered amount as commission.
Sheikh Hasina currently lives in India, while her son is in America and her niece is in Britain. However, there is no confirmed information about Sheikh Rehna yet.
Sheikh Hasina’s niece is a member of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s Labor Party and MP from Hampstead and Highgate.

The movement against reservation had carried out a coup
In Bangladesh, on June 5, the High Court had implemented 30% quota system in jobs, since then the students of universities in Dhaka were protesting. This reservation was being given to the families of freedom fighters. When this reservation was abolished, students started demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Within no time, a large number of students and common people came out on the streets against the Prime Minister and his government.
Two months after this protest, on August 5, Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister and left Bangladesh and came to India. After this the army took command of the country.
This footage of Sheikh Hasina is from 5th August. She is boarding a helicopter. According to media reports, he had less than 1 hour to leave the country.
