The bright sunlight from behind used to hit my neck. Due to which I felt uncomfortable.”

During his career, he scored 6,215 runs in 99 tests at an average of 45. He played 334 ODI matches. In the 50 over format, he scored 9,378 runs with his bat at an average of 37. He scored 22 centuries in Tests and 7 centuries in ODIs. In the year 1990, he started a new innings as captain. He debuted as captain on the New Zealand tour.
