Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple located in New Jersey was inaugurated on 8 October last year. This temple is 191 feet high. Swaminarayan ji is worshiped here. The stones used in the construction of this temple have been imported from 7 countries including Bulgaria, Italy, Greece, Turkey and India. Brahmakund or stepwell contains water from 400 different rivers and lakes around the world. It also contains water from India’s Ganga and Yamuna rivers.

Who is Lord Swaminarayan?
Swaminarayan is also called Ghanshyam Pandey. He was born in 1781 in a village named Chapiya near Ayodhya, which is said to be the birthplace of Lord Shri Ram. Astrologers after seeing him said that this child will work to show the right direction to the people all over the world. At the age of 8, he underwent the sacred thread ceremony, at the age of 11 he read all the scriptures, when his parents died, he left his home and started living as a monk. After visiting many countries of India, he stayed in Gujarat. He gained many followers there. He worked to eliminate many evils in the country and came to be known as Purushottam Narayan.
