Vijay Sethupathi’s film Maharaja has beaten Prabhas’s Baahubali 2 by earning Rs 85 crore in China. It has become the highest grossing South Indian film in China. Also, it has become the 10th highest collecting Indian film at the Chinese box office.
According to the report of Saknilk, Vijay Sethupathi’s Maharaja has earned around Rs 85.75 crore in China in 21 days. In some time it can enter the Rs 100 crore club. Prabhas’s film Bahubali 2 had collected Rs 80.50 crore in China.
Maharaja could not break the record of Aamir Khan’s film Dangal
However, the film failed to break the record of Maharaja Aamir Khan’s Dangal. Dangal is still the highest-grossing Indian film in China. After this come films like Secret Superstar, Andhadhun, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Hindi Medium, Hichki, PK, Mom and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha.
If the film Maharaja collects Rs 100 crore in China, then it can surpass Akshay Kumar’s film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha.
The film Maharaja has earned Rs 193 crore worldwide. Looking at its performance in China, it can be said that the film can soon enter the Rs 200 crore club.
The film Maharaja, released on June 14, has been directed by Nithilan Saminathan. Apart from Vijay Sethupathi, the film also stars Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas, Natarajan Subramaniam.
