Utkarsh Sharma Exclusive Interview: Actor Utkarsh Sharma’s film ‘Vanvas’, who has worked in blockbuster films like Gadar and Gadar 2, has been released on 20 December. This film is based on the relationship between father and children. Utkarsh, who is playing an important role in the film, talked interestingly to ABP News about the film and the different story of the film.
In the conversation, he spoke emotionally about family, love and respect for elders, and having parents’ hands on his head. He said that those people are very lucky whose parents are still with them.
What did Utkarsh say on the issue of giving respect to elders?
According to the World Health Organization, by the year 2050, about two-thirds of the world’s population will be people above 60 years of age. There are many such reports which do not have exact numbers, but it is clear that lakhs of elderly people are forced to spend their old age in loneliness.
Every year, thousands of such cases reach the court when elders appeal to their own children to get maintenance allowance and respect. When we talked about this with Utkarsh because his film Vanvas is also based on the relationship between elders and children, he replied-
”If you see before 2005, there were more joint families, today they have reduced. If I talk about Mumbai only, people are surprised to hear that someone is living in a joint family. Earlier it was very normal to live in a joint family but now it is no longer normal.
What are the reasons why children are not able to give time to elders?
While talking about the reasons for this, Utkarsh held the changing lifestyle responsible for it. He said, “As technology has advanced and demanding jobs have increased, there is no work-life balance left. Because of these, we don’t get time and whatever little time we get goes on the phone.
Utkarsh further said, “Nowadays people are taking quick entertainment on YouTube and Instagram, earlier people used to spend time with family at least on TV. Now even the nuclear family has become nuclear, people have been divided from atoms into protons and neutrons (that is, families are becoming smaller and smaller.)
Is this the youth’s mistake?
Utkarsh Sharma told that- “In this, the youth cannot be held completely responsible because they are not doing it intentionally that they are not able to give time to their parents. Rather it is happening to them. This is not their fault either. Ultimately, whatever work they are doing, they are doing it for the parents only. For this reason, a balance has been maintained that there are many people who take care of their elders. They just don’t have time left.
Utkarsh Sharma spoke on the ideals of Ramayana and Mahabharata
Utkarsh Sharma also says that those people are very lucky who are able to live with their parents. Many people are not able to do this because most people lose their parents in their middle age. He said that it has been our tradition to respect our elders. The same has been taught in Mahabharata and Ramayana, only a little dust has settled on it.
Parents are blessings from God
Utkarsh also told that it is only your parents and family who you meet as soon as you are born. Otherwise you have to earn all the other things. You can get another house and car, but you cannot get another family and neither can your parents. He also said about the film that in this film the same thing has been explained in an entertaining way.
The law has given special rights to the elderly
According to the Senior Citizens Act 2007, the elderly have got two special rights. The first is that if the children do not give them the money for their living, then they can approach the court to get the allowance from them every month. The second right is that children cannot throw the elders out of the house, whereas the elders have the right to throw out troublesome adult children from the house. For this, the elderly will either have to go to court or complain to the SDM.
