For America, Abu Mohammed al-Julani, leader of the rebel group Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in Syria, is no longer a terrorist. According to Al Jazeera’s report, the US government has removed the reward of 10 million dollars (Rs 85 crore) placed on Julani.
US officials took this decision after meeting with HTS leaders in Syria. US Assistant Secretary of State Barbara Leaf said that this decision has been taken after ousting President Bashar al-Assad from power.
After the fall of the Assad government, an American team has reached Syria. It is led by Barbara Leaf. US officials also met with HTS chief Abu Julani on Saturday morning. Barbara Leaf said that the talks with HTS leaders were very good and successful.
America had declared HTS a ‘terrorist’ organization in 2018. A year before this, a reward was placed on Abu Julani. According to reports, America is considering removing HTS from the list of terrorist organization.

Why is Israel increasing its closeness to Syria?
According to the report of Middle East Eye, the US government does not want Turkey to completely control Syria. Turkish President Erdogan had been trying to topple the Assad government in Syria for a long time, and he has been successful in it. Now they are trying to take advantage of this.
Apart from this, America also does not want Iran to strengthen its position there again. Earlier, the US Secretary of State had said that America is in direct contact with HTS. Blinken also warned HTS to learn a lesson from Al Qaeda.
The US Secretary of State said that when the Taliban came, it presented a liberal face or at least tried to do so. But then his true colors were revealed. The result was that he became severely isolated in the world. Blinken said that if HTS wants to take Syria forward, it will have to avoid all these things.
Controversy erupts over Julani taking photo of girl
Meanwhile, HTS leader Julani has given a statement on the criticism he is facing for taking a picture with a girl. A girl named Lia Khairallah was photographed with Abu Julani on 10 December. Before taking the photo, Julani had asked the girl to cover her head. Now he is being criticized for this very reason.
Liberals are criticizing Julani because he asked a girl to cover her head before taking a photo with him. They are seeing this incident as the imposition of Islamic system in Syria.
Speaking to BBC, Julani said that he did not force the girl to be photographed with her hair covered. He said- It is my freedom to take photographs in the way I feel is right.
At the same time, the fundamentalists are criticizing Julani because he took a photo with a girl. They believe that close contact between non-relative women and men is not right. He accused Julani of unnecessarily attracting public attention and interfering in religious education.
British officials had come to meet Julani on 17 December. At that time the British female officer did not cover her head. For this reason also, radicals targeted Julani.
