Last week, US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant and Ukrainian President Volodimir Jailonsky met in Kiev.
Ukrainian President Volodimir Jailonski has rejected the offer of seeking a share in Ukraine’s mineral reserves in exchange for the help given in the war. This information was given by American Treasury Secretary Scott Besant on Sunday.
Under this deal, the US demanded a 50% stake in all mineral reserves including Ukraine’s graphite, lithium and uranium.
The US said that in return for the help given to Ukraine so far, we distributed the mineral resources of Ukraine to us. However, it was not told in this deal whether the US will continue to provide military and financial assistance after taking 50% minerals.
On Wednesday, when Mr. Besent met Mr. Besant in Kiev, half of Ukraine’s minerals were demanded. This was the first visit of an official of the Trump administration to Ukraine. The Finance Department refused to comment on any conversation.
Proposal was given to Jailonsky in US Treasury Secretary Kyiv On February 12, American Treasury Secretary Scott Besant met Jailonsky in Kiev. Then he demanded half the minerals of the country. This was the first Ukraine visit of an official of the Trump administration. The Ukrainian President refused the deal at a close door meeting.
An Ukraine official and energy expert said on Sunday that the US was not only seeking a share in Ukraine’s mineral, but also wanted to grab natural resources such as oil and gas. If this deal had been finalized, America would have got the right over half of Ukraine’s resources.
Regarding rejecting this deal, Jelski said-
There was no such guarantee in this deal that by taking our resources, America will continue to provide security against Russia in war.
However, another Ukrainian official said the deal was not completely rejected. Negotiations on this are going on.
Trump spoke of dealing with Ukraine on 3 February
US President Donald Trump said on 3 February that he wanted to compromise on Rare Earth Material (rare soil resources) instead of continuing help in the war with Ukraine. Trump told the media at the Oval Office that the US had sent more military and financial assistance to Ukraine than its European colleagues.
Trump said-
We want to make an agreement with Ukraine that it will protect its rare economy material and other important resources.
Trump said that he has received a message from the Ukrainian government that he is ready to make a compromise on the rare economy material to help the US become a modern technical economy. He said that I want to protect the rare economy material. We are applying hundreds of billion dollars. He has a very good rare meaning material.
Use of rare economy material from electronics to IT
Rare Earth is a group of materials 17 elements, from consumer electronics to military equipment. It is used in modern technical oil refinery and many other industries besides IT industries, solar energy, chemical industries.
Trump said- going to end the absurd war
Earlier, Trump had said that discussion is going on to end the struggle in Ukraine. We will soon end the war. He said- We have made a lot of progress in terms of Russia and Ukraine. We will see what happens. We are going to stop that absurd battle.
Since the beginning of the war, the United States has assisted Ukraine about $ 63 billion (Rs 5.45 lakh crore). Trump has also spoken about ending Ukraine War in a day during his election campaign. However, he did not give any details about it.
Jailonski said that no talks are accepted without including us
On the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodimir Jailonski said on Saturday that no talks between the US and Russia are accepted without incorporating his country. He said that he (Trump and Putin) may have their relationship, but without us it is dangerous for everyone to talk about Ukraine.
Jailonsky said- Our team is constantly in touch with the Trump government. Soon we will meet face to face.
Musk will not do anything without my approval
