On the first day of the ongoing Boxing Day Test match in Centurion, Bosch created history by taking a wicket on the very first ball of his Test career. Bosch gave the team its first success by dismissing Pakistan captain Shan Masood. Corbyn became the 5th South African bowler to take a wicket on the first ball of his debut Test match. He also became the first South African bowler in the 135-year-old Test history of South Africa to take a wicket on the first ball on debut in the Boxing Day Test. Bosch played an important role in Pakistan defeating the opposition team cheaply by taking 4 wickets in the first innings.
In the Boxing Day Test match being played between South Africa and Pakistan at the Super Sports Park in Centurion, the host team gave the Test debut to 30-year-old fast bowler Corbin Bosch. South Africa won the toss and decided to bowl first. Pakistan started well and did not allow any wicket to fall in the first hour. South African captain Temba Bavuma called Bosch to bowl the 15th over of Pakistan’s innings. With his stormy bowling, Bosch spread happiness in the South African camp by dismissing Pakistan captain Shan Masood on the very first ball of his Test career. He got Masood caught by Marco Yanson.

Corbin Bosch became the fifth bowler overall for South Africa to take a wicket on the first ball in his debut Test. Earlier, Bert Volger had achieved this feat in the year 1906 while Dan Peet had achieved this feat in 2014. Hardus Villahon created history in 2016, while Tshepo Moreki created history by taking a wicket on the very first ball in his Test debut in 2024. South African team has been playing Test cricket since 1889. This is the first time in 135 years of Test history that a South African bowler has taken a wicket on the first ball on debut in a Boxing Day Test match.
Pakistan’s first innings collapsed for 211 runs
Pakistan scored 211 runs in the first innings. From his side, Kamram Ghulam played the highest innings of 54 runs while Aamir Jamal was the second top scorer by scoring 28 runs. For South Africa, Dan Pietersen took the maximum of 5 wickets while Bosch took 4 wickets. In response to Pakistan’s first innings score of 211 runs, South Africa scored 82 runs for 3 wickets at the end of the first day’s play. Aiden Markram is unbeaten on 47 runs. Captain Bavuma is supporting from the other end.
