telecom companies to launch calling and sms only tariff plans after trai order

Telecom companies will no longer be arbitrary in the matter of recharge plans. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has ordered companies that now they will have to bring tariff plans only for voice calling and SMS. This means that now companies will not be able to take extra money by providing mobile data in their plans. This will impact about 15 crore 2G users of the country, who do not want to pay for data in their plans.

The order will be implemented in 30 days

This order of TRAI will come into effect in the next 30 days. It has been said in this order that along with their existing recharge plans, companies will also have to bring such plans which have the benefits of only voice calling and SMS. Such plans are necessary for those who do not need data. Along with feature phone users, it will also benefit those who use 2 SIMs.

Companies were protesting

Private companies were opposing this effort of TRAI. In fact, companies like Jio and Airtel are rapidly shifting their 2G users to 4G networks so that their earnings can be increased. Jio had termed 2G technology as a hindrance and said that because of this people are not able to take full advantage of the digital revolution. However, government company BSNL had supported TRAI in bringing voice and SMS only plans.

Validity also increased

Private companies said that their plans have taken care of the needs of all types of users, but TRAI’s investigation revealed that even now about 15 crore users in the country are using feature phones and such plans are necessary for them. Are. Also, TRAI has increased the maximum validity of Special Tariff Voucher (STV) and Combo Voucher from the current 90 days to 365 days.
