Tahawwur Rana Extradition: The crimes of Tahwwur Rana, convicted of Mumbai attack, will now be accounted for very soon in India. America has approved his extradition. Now India is ready to drag by holding its collar. Yes, a team of four officers of the NI i.e. the National Investigation Agency is ready to go to America today i.e. on Thursday (January 30). The objective is to bring back the 26/11 Mumbai attack, to bring back Tehwavur Rana back to India. The US Supreme Court had recently approved the extradition of terrorist Tahavvur Rana.
According to the report of the Indian Express, the NIA has submitted the names of the officials to the Ministry of Home Affairs and also informed the Ministry of External Affairs. A source of the Ministry of Home Affairs said that the NIA team is currently cordinating with US officials. This team is waiting for the final confirmation of the journey from the Ministry of External Affairs.
What preparation in Tihar
The team consists of officials of Inspector General (IG) and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) rank, who will supervise Tehwwur Rana’s return to India. Meanwhile, Delhi Jail Department has started preparations for his custody in Tihar Jail. After coming to India, terrorist Rana will be kept in a high-security ward, where CCTV cameras will be installed in his cell to monitor his activities.
A source in Tihar Jail said, ‘Tahwwur Rana’s cell will have CCTV cameras and they will monitor all its activities 24 × 7. Its cell will have an inbuilt toilet and bathroom feature.
Who is Tahwwur Rana
Tehwwur Rana is a Canadian citizen of Pakistani origin. He is accused of being involved in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, killing 166 people. He is convicted in this case. He was linked to Pakistani-American terrorist David Coleman Headley, one of the masterminds of the attack.
Rana gets a shock from America
The extradition of terrorist Rana was approved after his legal challenges dismissed, in which the US Supreme Court rejected his plea on 21 January. The US government argued that Rana should not get relief from extradition. American Solicitor General Elizabeth B. Pelogar said that Rana should not get any other legal measures in this matter.
