Today, on 22nd August, the Sensex closed at 81,053 with a gain of 147 points. At the same time, the Nifty also rose by 41 points and closed at 24,811.
Out of the 30 Sensex stocks, 18 rose and 12 fell. Out of the 50 Nifty stocks, 27 rose and 23 fell. Tata Motors was the top Sensex loser.
Zomato will enter the entertainment business, shares fell
Online food delivery company Zomato will acquire Paytm’s entertainment and ticketing business for Rs 2,048.4 crore.
After this news, its shares opened with a rise today, but after the day’s trading, the stock closed at Rs 257.85 with a decline of 0.84%.
Japan’s Nikkei index rises
- In Asian markets, Japan’s Nikkei index rose by 0.68% and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose by 1.44%. China’s Shanghai Composite fell by 0.27%.
- On Wednesday, the US market Dow Jones closed at 40,890, up 55.52 (0.14%) points. Whereas NASDAQ closed at 17,918, down 102.05 (0.57%) points.
- According to NSE data, foreign investors (FIIs) sold shares worth ₹799.74 crore on August 21. Domestic investors (DIIs) bought shares worth ₹3,097.45 crore.
Orient Technologies IPO Day 2
Today is the second day of the Initial Public Offering (IPO) of IT solutions providing company Orient Technologies. Investors will be able to bid for its shares till August 23. The company wants to raise Rs 214.76 crore through this issue.

The market was bullish yesterday
Earlier, yesterday, i.e. on 21st August, the stock market witnessed a rise. The Sensex closed at 80,905 with a rise of 102 points (0.13%). On the other hand, the Nifty rose by 71 points (0.29%). It closed at 24,770.
