New Delhi. Team India had to face defeat in the second T20 match played between Indian women’s team and West Indies (Ind w vs WI w). Smriti Mandhana once again played a half-century innings. But this time the team could not win. West Indies captain Hayley Mathews snatched victory from India by scoring 85 runs. West Indies won the toss and decided to bowl first, which proved effective for them.
Smriti Mandhana (62)’s second consecutive half-century in the series and Richa Ghosh (32)’s aggressive batting helped India score 159 runs for nine wickets in the second T20 International match against the West Indies women’s team here on Tuesday. While Mandhana held one end till the 14th over, after her dismissal, Richa hit six fours in her aggressive innings of 17 balls due to which Bharat was successful in crossing the 150-run mark.

Jemimah Rodrigues was LBW on the ball of Hayley Mathews (2 wickets for 36 runs) after scoring 13 runs with the help of two fours in her 15-ball innings. Debutant Raghavi Bisht failed to impress and became the victim of Effie Fletcher (two wickets for 28 runs) after scoring just five runs. Deepti Sharma (17) hit some good shots but was run out due to a mistake with Richa. Dottin dismissed opener Uma Chhetri for 4 runs at the beginning of the Indian innings. He also dismissed Richa Ghosh and made some brilliant saves amidst poor fielding by the team. He took an amazing catch of Radha Yadav (seven) after jumping near the boundary and stopping the ball going for six runs.
The captain played an excellent innings
West Indies captain Hayley Mathews played a brilliant inning in this match. He played a total innings of 85 runs in 47 balls. His innings also included 17 fours. Apart from the captain, Keena Joseph and Sheeman Campbell played innings of 38 and 29 runs respectively. The three-match T20 series is now tied at 1-1.
