New Delhi. European car manufacturer group Skoda Volkswagen has achieved a significant milestone in India. The company has achieved success in manufacturing 15 lakh cars in India. Let us tell you, both the car companies are part of the Volkswagen Group and have been manufacturing cars in India at the Chakan plant in Pune since 2009. The company has produced cars like Skoda Fabia, Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Polo, Volkswagen Vento at the Chakan plant.
Currently, the company is manufacturing vehicles in India under India Project 2.0 which is a new India-centric design platform. On this platform, the company is selling its new cars like Skoda Kushak, Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus. These models alone have contributed 3 lakh units in sales. Apart from this, the company has also manufactured more than 3.8 lakh 1.0 liter TSI engines at the Chakan plant.
Exports were also excellent
Apart from this, the company also exported 30 percent of its cars made in India. The company is exporting its vehicles from India to about 40 countries. India is the fourth country from where Volkswagen Group exports the most vehicles.
Speaking on the occasion, Piyush Arora, Managing Director and CEO, Skoda Volkswagen Group India, said, “The production of 15 lakh vehicles at our Chakan plant is a great success and reflects the trust of customers. The company is also proud of its India-centric vehicles. India’s automotive industry and the country’s talent have contributed significantly to this achievement of the company.”
