The Trump administration on Thursday introduced a plan to trim the US International Development Agency (USAID) employees. According to this, only 300 employees will be kept in USAID.
According to US media reports, Trump’s plan is being seen as almost eliminating the USAID.
At present, 8 thousand employees and contractors are employed in USAID. Apart from this, more than 5 thousand local employees are also working abroad. The situation is not clear about these. This trimming is permanent or it is also not clear in the temporary plan.
The Trump administration is reviewing the help and development programs of USAID which will be continued.
After taking oath on January 20, Trump issued an order to stop the funding of USAID.
Orders to return to employees deployed abroad
The Trump administration has ordered the return of USAID employees to return abroad. They have been given 30 days from today. The government will bear the expenses of returning of employees. If the employees stop abroad more than the scheduled time due to any reason, then they will have to bear their own expenses.
Earlier, External Affairs Minister Marco Rubio said on Thursday that America will continue to keep foreign aid. However, it will be given according to American interests.
Trump sent USAID officials on leave
Several employees, including two top officials of the US International Development Agency (USAID), were sent on leave on 1 February. These include the agency director John Worole and Deputy Director Brian McGill.
According to the CNN report, these officers were refusing to give access to the agency’s system to the employees of the Government Episian Department (DOGE) of Ellon Musk.
The dog staff tried to enter the USAID headquarters, but were stopped outside. Employees threatened to call the marshals of law information for not accessing the system.
The DOGE employees wanted to see the security system of the USAID and the employees’ files. According to the report, these are secret information.
Can only see them only to which it is approved. However, he later managed to enter the headquarters.
No information was revealed on Saturday about this action of dog.
Claim- Enter secret places, got personal information of citizen
CNN has claimed in its report that the dog employee entered the secret places of USAID without security clearing and gained secret information from the citizens. Katy Miller, who was appointed in DOGE towards Trump, also confirmed the infiltration of the dog employees on Sunday.
Posting on X, Katy said that no secret material was accessed without approval. On the other hand Musk posted on X and wrote that,
Usaid is a criminal organization. The time has come to close it.
Usaid’s website, social media closed
The USAID’s website was closed on Saturday itself. Instead, a page of Usaid has been added to the US State Department website. The X account of the agency also closed on Saturday.
After taking oath on January 20, Trump ordered a 90 -day ban on all kinds of help given to abroad. Trump has been signed on the executive order associated with it.
