Is the stock market open today?

There will be a holiday in the Indian stock market today, 15th November, on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti. For this reason there will be no trading in Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE).

Due to today’s holiday, there will be no activity in the Equity Segment, Equity Derivative Segment, SLB Segment, Currency Derivative Segment, NDS-RST, Tri-Party Repo and Electronic Gold Receipts (EGR) segment.

Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) and National Commodity Exchange (NCDEX) will also remain closed from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM today and then reopen for trading from 5:00 PM onwards.

There are still two more holidays left in the stock market this year: November 20 due to Maharashtra Assembly elections and December 25 on Christmas Day.

There have been three holidays in the stock market in November — Diwali/Lakshmi Puja, Guru Nanak Jayanti and now Maharashtra elections.

In recent times, Sensex and Nifty have been in decline for six consecutive sessions. The main reasons for this decline are selling pressure from foreign institutional investors and growing concerns over rising retail inflation.

This negative sentiment has impacted many sectors of Dalal Street, especially fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG). FMCG stocks remain under pressure due to inflation concerns, which has led to significant losses for the sector in recent trading sessions.
