On the second day of the Chennai Test match, Bumrah took 4 wickets of Bangladesh with his lethal bowling. Bumrah was not getting any help from the Chennai Chepauk wicket, yet he succeeded in taking wickets one after the other. After the day’s play, Bumrah said that after not getting any help from the pitch, he resorted to the strategy he adopted while playing domestic cricket. Which proved to be effective in the end.

Despite not getting any help from the wicket, Jasprit Bumrah took 4 wickets for 50 runs in the first innings of Bangladesh (IND vs BAN). Bumrah, who is considered one of the most dangerous fast bowlers in the world, said, ‘I had no other option. Because when I was bowling on the length, there was no benefit from it. Apart from this, the ball was not reversing either.’ Two days of play have been completed in the Chennai Test where the fast bowlers dominated. A total of 17 wickets fell on the second day. This is the highest number of wickets falling in a day at Chepauk.

Bumrah completes 400 wickets in international cricket
In all the test matches played at Chepauk till now, the highest number of wickets that fell in a day was 15. But this record has been broken in the India vs Bangladesh test match. Then in 1979, this many wickets fell on the third day of the test played between India vs West Indies. During this time, Bumrah also completed his 400 wickets in international cricket. He became the 10th Indian bowler to achieve this feat.

Bumrah said, ‘That’s why I needed to do something new. When the wicket is not helping then as a bowler you have to do some experiments. So I tried the strategies that I used while playing domestic cricket. Today this strategy proved to be effective and this experiment helped me.’
