New Delhi. Young batsman Ayush Badoni created a world record in the Delhi Premier League 2024. Badoni played an innings of 165 runs in 55 balls which included 19 sixes. This is the highest number of sixes hit by a batsman in an innings in a T20 match. After creating the world record, Badoni said that he had never thought about it. He just wanted to hit the ball well. South Delhi Superstars captain Badoni also made a record-breaking partnership with opener Priyans Arya in the match against North Delhi Strikers. On the basis of Badoni’s explosive innings, his team has entered the semi-finals.

Ayush Badoni believes that in the DPL T20 match, he was able to play a record-breaking innings of 165 runs in 55 balls due to his excellent timing. On the basis of the 24-year-old right-handed batsman’s explosive innings, South Delhi Superstars registered a big win by 112 runs in the match played on Saturday. During this, Badoni made a new record in T20 cricket by sharing 286 runs for the second wicket with Priyansh Arya (120). Badoni, who plays for Lucknow Supergiants in the IPL, hit 19 sixes, which is a new record in T20 cricket. The record for hitting the most sixes in an innings of a T20 match was earlier jointly held by Chris Gayle of West Indies and Sahil Chauhan of Estonia. Both the batsmen had hit 18 sixes each.

‘I just focus on timing the ball’
After the victory, Ayush Badoni said, ‘I was just focusing on hitting the ball well. I never thought that I would hit 19 sixes in an innings. I just focus on the timing of the ball. And do not try to hit the ball hard.’ After this innings, many franchise teams will bid for Badoni in the upcoming mega auction of IPL. This young batsman said, ‘I am not thinking about the (IPL) mega auction right now. As a captain, my focus is currently on winning the DPL.’

‘Playing in the IPL made the job easier’
