Agra: Along with traffic rules, it is very important to wear seat belt for your own safety. However, despite knowing all its benefits, many people drive cars without seat belts. In such a situation, traffic police personnel issue challan for driving a car without seat belt. Even now many people who break the rules and drive get away, but now the traffic department will use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to detect those who break the traffic rules. This means that now those who break the rules will definitely be caught by cameras equipped with AI. Preparations for this have been done in Agra.

Integrated Traffic Management System i.e. ITM-S has been implemented in Agra Smart City. 110 artificial intelligence based cameras have been installed across the city which will capture and challan drivers who do not wear seat belts. An automatic e-challan of ₹ 1000 will be sent through mobile to the driver who does not wear seat belt.

Smart city cameras will send photos to the police
According to Municipal Commissioner Ankit Khandelwal, e-challans will be generated from the cameras that were installed earlier under the ITM-S system. It has been implemented as an experiment. This system is working fully since Friday. The photo taken from the camera will be sent to the traffic police control room. After verification, the challan will reach the vehicle owner’s mobile phone. This system is completely automatic or based on Artificial Intelligence.

Now all challans will be done through AI
Till now in Agra city, challans for people not wearing helmets were issued using AI technology. Now drivers driving without seat belts will also be issued challans. Apart from this, challans for triple riding, crossing red light, driving in the wrong direction and over speed will now be issued through AI technology. Agra Municipal Corporation is using this technology for the first time in the state. A control room has been set up in the Smart City office located in the Agra Municipal Corporation premises. Here vehicles are being monitored through cameras on big screens.

There will be reduction in accidents
Seat belt use reduces the chances of serious injuries and death in road accidents by 45%. According to the World Health Organization and other research organizations, the risk of serious injury or death is many times higher for drivers and passengers who are not wearing seat belts. This initiative will also reduce the number of injuries and deaths in accidents across the city.
