New Delhi. BCCI on Thursday announced the Indian women’s cricket team for the upcoming 3-match ODI series against New Zealand. In this series, the command of the Indian team will be in the hands of Harmanpreet Kaur. Both the teams will clash in the ODI series from October 24. The selectors have included 4 new players in the team. After India’s early exit from the T20 World Cup, questions were being raised about Harmanpreet’s future as captain. However, the selectors have decided to continue with him for now.

The match against New Zealand in Ahmedabad will also mark the beginning of preparations for the ODI World Cup, which India will host next year. BCCI said in a statement that 21-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman Richa Ghosh will not be available for the series as its dates clash with her Class 12 board exams. Asha Shobhana’s name was not considered due to injury while all-rounder Pooja Vastrakar has been rested.

Smriti Mandhana, who was in poor form in the T20 World Cup, has been made the vice-captain.
