The 19th G20 Summit has started on Monday in Rio de Janeiro, the capital of Brazil. The G20 summit will be held over two days on 18 and 19 November. On the first day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other world leaders reached the venue, where Brazilian President Lula da Silva and his wife welcomed the guests.
During the summit, PM Modi and US President Joe Biden shook hands and greeted each other. After this meeting, PM Modi wrote on social media that it is always a pleasure to meet Biden. PM Modi may also meet Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The theme of the first session of the G20 Summit is ‘Solidarity against hunger and poverty’. Addressing the first session, PM Modi congratulated the President of Brazil for the successful organization of G20. He said that Brazil has taken forward the decisions taken in the New Delhi Summit under its chairmanship.
Modi said-
India has brought 25 crore people out of poverty in 10 years, giving free food grains to 80 crore people. 55 crore people are taking advantage of free health insurance. Gave 20 billion dollars (1,68 thousand crore rupees) to the farmers. India is contributing to global food security. Recently help has been provided to Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
