New Delhi. Indian cricket team’s tour of Australia is currently a topic of discussion. The former Indian captain along with all the dignitaries have their eyes set on the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The first match of the series is to be played in Perth from 22 November. The second match will be held in Adelaide which will be played with pink ball. Sourav Ganguly has raised questions on the absence of Indian team’s fast bowler Mohammed Shami in this match.
Former captain Ganguly said that Mohammed Shami should have been sent to Adelaide for the second Test to be held from December 6. The team will play day night test with pink ball in Adelaide. However, the thinking of the Indian selectors does not match with Ganguly. The selectors do not want to rush the return of Shami, who has performed effectively in the Ranji matches for Bengal after recovering from an ankle injury.
The BCCI medical team and national selectors want Shami to play some more competitive matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. With this, it can be seen whether his body is fine even after many matches, even if it is a white ball tournament. Ganguly said, “Shami bowled about 45 overs and remained on the field for more than 100 overs fielding. This is enough fitness to be sent to Australia. On this tour, you need a bowler of his caliber along with Jasprit Bumrah.
Shami returns to the field after 1 year
Mohammed Shami remained out of Team India due to injury since playing in the ICC ODI World Cup in the year 2023. His name was not included in the team selected for Australia. He proved his fitness by appearing in the Ranji Trophy match against Bengal. After a gap of 1 year, Shami came to play in a match. He took 7 wickets in both the innings and led the team to victory against Madhya Pradesh.
