European country Albania bans TikTok after killing of a school boy. After the death of a school student, this country has now banned TikTok, the Prime Minister said

The European country Albania has decided to ban TikTok after the death of a school student. Prime Minister Edi Rama has made this announcement after meeting teachers and families of children across the country. He said that TikTok will be banned for one year and this decision will be implemented from next year. This decision has been taken due to the increasing influence of social media on children.

School student stabbed with knife

In November, a 14-year-old schoolboy in Albania was stabbed to death by his classmates. According to local media, earlier there was an argument between the two students on social media. There were also videos in which school children were justifying violence.

Rama has blamed social media and especially TikTok for the increasing violence among children. He said, “Today the problem is not the children, today the problem is us. The problem is our society, the problem is TikTok and other such platforms which are holding our children hostage.” He further said that TikTok is being closed to everyone for one year from now. There will be no TikTok in Albania for a year.

Let us tell you that many European countries like France, Germany and Belgium have banned such platforms to keep children away from social media. Australia had completely banned social media for children under 16 years of age in November.

How has TikTok responded to this?

TikTok responded to the incident by saying it was gathering more information from the Albanian government. A company spokesperson said there was no evidence the victim or attacker students had TikTok accounts. It has been said in many reports that before this incident, the videos were not uploaded on TikTok but on other platforms.
