Rohan Mirchandani, co-founder of FMCG company Epigamia, has passed away, he was 42 years old. According to reports, Rohan died of a heart attack late on the night of 21 December.
Mirchandani was a graduate of NYU Stern and Wharton School. He founded Drums Food International in 2013, which is the parent company of Epigamia. Epigamia is one of the largest Greek yogurt brands in India.
Company spokesperson said – will move forward on Rohan’s dream
Drums Food spokesperson said that we are saddened by this loss in the Epigamia family. Rohan was our mentor, friend and leader. We will try to pursue his dream with strength and enthusiasm. Rohan’s values and vision will continue to guide us.
The family and current management will manage the business.
The company said that in Rohan’s absence, the existing leadership will manage the business. Epigamia’s senior leadership will manage the day-to-day operations of the company under the leadership of Ankur Goyal (COO & Founding Member) Uday Thakkar (Co-Founder & Director) and the support of the Board of Directors. His family members Raj Mirchandani and Verlinvest and DSG Consumer Partners will also help in this.
Planned in business school – I will start a startup
Mirchandani once said that as a student in business school, he thought of starting a startup after listening to a lecture on the lack of innovation in consumer brands and FMCG.
Rohan Mirchandani became the executive chairman of the company in December 2023. Co-founder Rahul Jain became the CEO. Whereas, Epigamia’s founding member Ankur Goyal was promoted to COO i.e. Chief Operating Officer of the company. At that time Goyal was looking after the supply chain and business intelligence functions of the company.
Company manufactures Greek yogurt, curd and beverages
This Mumbai based firm is famous for products like Greek yogurt, curd, milk shake, smoothie and kheer. Epigamia started as Hokey Pokey ice cream and then changed to a yogurt brand, as the ice cream business was a seasonal business.
The company has 20,000 touchpoints in more than 30 cities.
According to the report, by December 2023, the brand is selling retail at 20,000 touchpoints in more than 30 cities. The company is also planning to take its business to the Middle East by 2025-26. In the financial year 2023, the company sold products worth a total of Rs 168 crore.
