US President Donald Trump on Sunday announced to stop all future funding to South Africa. Trump alleged that the South African government was forcibly occupying people’s land. Along with this, some people are harassing there.
According to Reuters, South African President Cyril Ramfosa has recently passed a land acquisition bill. There is a provision in this bill that the government can occupy the land of people without any compensation in the public interest.
Trump wrote on social media trouses-
The government of South Africa is seizing people’s land and behaving very badly with a few selected people. America will not tolerate it, we will take action. I will stop all the future funding to South Africa until the investigation of the case is completed!
In South Africa, apartheid and land acquisition have been a long disputed issue.

According to Reuters, the US had given assistance of about Rs 3.82 thousand crore to South Africa in 2023 for health programs, economic development and security cooperation. Donald Trump’s associate and South African billionaire Ilyon Musk has warned that this policy of Ramposa may have the same effect as the land in Zimbabwe in the 1980s. Which is considered to be the cause of Zimbabwe’s economic ruin.
South Africa said- land will not be confiscated arbitrarily
On the other hand, the South African government says that it is not seizing the land arbitrarily, but will be talked to the land owners first. Land reform and apartheid in South Africa have been a long -disputed issue.
South African President Ramfosa has rejected any kind of tension concern with the US. He said that in South Africa, work is done according to the Constitution. The government has not seized any land. Ramfosa said that his government is ready to talk to the Trump administration on the issue of land reform policy and bilateral interests.
However, the South African government has not yet made any statement on the issue of stopping funding. According to Reuters, Trump had promised to investigate violent land acquisition in South Africa and the killings of white farmers in South Africa during his first term.
