The veteran actress we are talking about is none other than Dimple Kapadia. Dimple was born on June 8, 1957 in Mumbai. She was discovered by Raj Kapoor when she was just 14 years old.

The legend actor-director cast her in the teen romantic drama Bobby alongside his son Rishi Kapoor. But before her first film was released, she married superstar Rajesh Khanna in March 1973. At that time she was only 15 years old.

Later, when released in September the same year, Bobby became a big blockbuster. By the end of the year, Dimple and Rajesh’s first daughter, Twinkle Khanna, was born. At that time the actress was only 16 years old. Kapadia left Bollywood to focus on his marriage and family. While Khanna continued acting in films.

In 1977, Rajesh and Dimple welcomed their second daughter, Rinke Khanna. After five years of marriage, in 1982, Dimple and Rajesh Khanna separated but the couple never divorced.

In 1984, Dimple made a comeback into films with Jakhmi Sher. In the next 10 years, he gave hits like Sagar, Arjun, Janbaaz, Insaaf and Krantiveer, while his films like Rudaali and Lekin were appreciated by critics. With these films, Dimple became one of the top actresses of Bollywood.

However, after Divya Bharti’s sudden death in 1993, Juhi Chawla was replaced in the film. However, Dimple felt that the age difference between her and Juhi was too small, so she shied away from the duty and the producers replaced her with Aruna Irani.

As soon as the 2000s started, Dimple started choosing strong roles according to her age. Her acting in hit films like Dil Chahta Hai, Dabangg, Luck by Chance, Cocktail and Finding Fanny was highly appreciated.

In the year 2023, Kapadia played the role of Shahrukh Khan’s guru in the espionage thriller ‘Pathan’. Shahrukh returned to the silver screen after four years with Siddharth Anand directed ‘Pathan’ and this film earned more than Rs 1000 crore worldwide and was a big blockbuster.
