In his place, Dhruv Jurel kept wicket in the last session on the second day of the first Test match against New Zealand. When Pant was hit by Ravindra Jadeja’s ball in his knee, he lay down on the field groaning. He was in a lot of pain at that time. After the second day’s play, captain Rohit Sharma gave an update on Pant’s injury. Rohit said that Pant’s knee is swollen and he hopes that Pant will make a comeback in this match. However, looking at the way Pant was looking in trouble, it can be said that his injury could prove costly for the Indian team. In such a situation, the question arises that Rohit and company played a gamble on the injured player.

We don’t want to take risks. Will hope that he returns in this match. Pant had a terrible road accident a few years ago in which he was injured. After this Pant had to undergo surgery on the knee of his right leg. In the first innings of the Bengaluru Test, Pant was out after scoring 20 runs in 49 balls. The Indian team collapsed for 46 runs in the first innings. New Zealand has taken a lead of 134 runs over India. From India’s point of view, this contest seems to be stuck.

Pant got injured in the 37th over
Rishabh Pant got injured in the 37th over of New Zealand’s innings. Ravindra Jadeja was bowling at that time. Jadeja landed the ball on the footmark of Devon Conway. After which the ball suddenly spun. Conway missed the ball in play. The ball came close to the off stump and hit Pant’s knee. After this Pant started suffering from pain and fell on the field. Physio was called in a hurry but first aid on the field was of no use. After this, Pant went out of the field limping with the help of physio. He was not able to even stand properly.

The physio asked Rishabh Pant to take off the pad of his right foot. Pant’s pain did not get better even after this. After which Dhruv Jurel was signaled to come inside. Jurel quickly packed himself up and reached the ground running. It is a matter of concern for the Indian team that Pant’s same knee was injured in a road accident for which he had to undergo surgery. Swelling in the knee has raised lines of concern on the forehead of the team management.
