New Delhi. The fans’ wait for the ICC Champions Trophy is over. The probable schedule of the tournament has been revealed. Once again an exciting contest will be seen between India and Pakistan. Both the teams will face each other in the league stage match of the 2025 Champions Trophy on 23 February. Pakistan will host this ICC event next year, but India will not go there. India will play its matches at a neutral venue, which means that Pakistan and other teams playing against India will have to travel to that country.
If India qualifies for the second round, they will also play their semi-finals and final at neutral venues. This also means that Pakistan cannot confirm hosting of the 2025 Champions Trophy final. India, who won the 2013 Champions Trophy under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, will begin their campaign against Bangladesh on February 20. They will face New Zealand in their last league match on March 2.
According to the report of Rev Sport, the Indian team will play three group matches in the Champions Trophy. The first match could be against Bangladesh, the second with Pakistan and the third with New Zealand. India’s last group match is reported to be played on March 2. The Indian team can play a match with Pakistan on 23 February. The two semi-finals will be played on March 4 and 5 while the final will be held on March 9. A reserve day has also been kept for the final.
Pakistan defending champions
Pakistan team will enter the Champions Trophy 2025 as defending champions. In 2017, the Pakistan team, which played under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, won the title by defeating the Indian team in a one-sided final. India had participated in that tournament as defending champions. The ICC had canceled this tournament after 2017, but has restarted it for the 2025 season.
