Amid the India-Canada dispute, Canadian police department RCMP Commissioner Mike Duhem has sought help from the Sikh community living in Canada.
According to PTI, Duhem said in an interview to Radio Canada channel on Tuesday that we are investigating India’s role in the violence in Canada. If anyone has any information related to this case then please give it to us. For this he also appealed to the Sikh community living in Canada.
Earlier on Monday, Duhem had alleged the involvement of Indian agents in the violence in Canada.
Earlier, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau on Tuesday (October 15) had accused Indian government agents of gathering intelligence, target killing, threatening Canadian citizens and indulging in violence. After this there is tension between the two countries.
Hardeep Singh Nijjar was murdered on 18 June 2023. In September, the Canadian PM had accused India of this murder.
Officer said it is our duty to provide security to the people
Duhem had said in a press conference held in Ottawa on Monday that for the safety of the people, it is necessary to end this network running in Canada. He said in the interview-
People come to Canada to feel safe. It is our duty to provide them security.
He alleged that Bishnoi gang is linked to agents of the Indian government. This gang is targeting the Asian community in the country, especially the pro-Khalistan people.
Trudeau’s allegation- people are in danger from agents of Indian government Earlier, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused Indian government agents of gathering intelligence, target killing, threatening Canadian citizens and indulging in violence.
Earlier, Trudeau, citing RCMP evidence, had said that six Indian diplomats expelled from Canada were involved in activities that posed a threat to the public. Canada made several attempts to work with India on this matter, but India refused help every time.
India has hit back at Trudo’s allegations and called them baseless. The Foreign Ministry said in its statement that Canada is repeating rote allegations without providing any concrete evidence. Our High Commissioner is being targeted.
What happened between India and Canada in 3 days?
13 October: Canada sent a letter to India. It said that Indian High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma and other diplomats are suspects in a case. Canada did not provide details of the case, but it was linked to the Nijjar case.
14 October: India protested against its diplomats being described as suspicious and summoned the Canadian ambassador. A few hours later, India recalled Sanjay Kumar Verma and other diplomats. Late night news came that Canada has also ordered its 6 ambassadors from India to return.
15 October: The Canadian Prime Minister accused Indian agents of direct involvement in Nijjar’s murder.
