Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) had a total unclaimed maturity amount of Rs 880.93 crore in the financial year 2023-24. According to government information, a total of 372,282 policyholders have not claimed their maturity benefit.

Rohan Mirchandani, co-founder of FMCG company Epigamia, has passed away, he was 42 years old. According to reports, Rohan died of a heart attack late on the night of 21 December.
Mirchandani was a graduate of NYU Stern and Wharton School. He founded Drums Food International in 2013, which is the parent company of Epigamia. Epigamia is one of the largest Greek yogurt brands in India.

The central government is planning to ban apps that give loans without permission. The government has presented a draft bill regarding this plan. This bill calls for banning infringing online loan apps. Apart from this, a fine of Rs 1 crore and 10 years of jail has also been proposed.

4. 18% GST on purchasing second hand electric car from dealer: Tax on fortified rice reduced to 5%, issue of rebate on health insurance premium averted.
The 55th meeting of the GST Council was held in Jaisalmer on 21 December (Saturday). In the press conference after the meeting, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman told that 18% GST will be charged on purchasing second hand electric car from auto companies and dealers.
GST rates on Fortified Rice Kernels (FRK) reduced from 18% to 5%. There will be no GST on gene therapy. GST will not be applicable on payment aggregators making payments of less than Rs 2,000. GST will also not be imposed on black pepper and raisins supplied by farmers.
