A young farmer from Ballia, Uttar Pradesh has proved how success in farming can be achieved with expert advice. After completing his B.Tech, he left his job and followed his passion for farming. He took guidance from agricultural expert Subhash Palekar and started farming. Today he is earning profits worth lakhs and his journey has become an inspiration for other farmers.
Dushyant Kumar Singh of Basantpur village in Ballia district told News18 that after completing his B.Tech in 2017, he did a private job in Bengaluru for a year. But, when he felt that he was not getting satisfaction in his job, he decided to return to his village and focus on farming.
Dushyant Kumar Singh’s success story started after he met agriculture expert Subhash Palekar at a camp in Bengaluru. Inspired by Palekar’s advice, he adopted farming techniques and soon became a successful farmer in Uttar Pradesh. Dushyant now grows two main types of paddy: Kala Namak Kiran and Manav Manila Irrigated Paddy-1.
Manila variety is special because it requires less water and produces 55 to 60 quintals per hectare.
This year, for the first time, Dushyant Kumar Singh has planted Manila paddy on four bighas of land, while he has cultivated Kala Namak Kiran on 65 bighas of land. He has been growing black salt for the last four years, which has gained him a lot of fame and there is a good demand for his produce.
Dushyant told that he does natural farming while paying attention to health. They also do animal husbandry, which helps them in making organic fertilizers. This increases their agricultural production and also increases their profits.
This year he has planted Kala Namak Kiran paddy on 65 bighas of land. The cost of cultivation of one bigha is around Rs 4,000 to 5,000, while the profit per bigha is around Rs 60,000. He expects to earn up to Rs 39 lakh from these 65 bighas, while the total cost of cultivation is only Rs 3 lakh.
