Brijesh Dwivedi, who became a victim of polio at the age of just one and a half years, is today the most reliable all-rounder of the Indian Cricket Team for the physically challenged. His left leg is weak, he converted this weakness into strength and traveled till Team India. He has now played a dozen matches for Team India.

Brajesh Dwivedi has to take the help of his hands to walk but his courage is not weak. Today, I am standing on my feet because of my mother’s hard work. There is a passion for cricket… with the desire to play for the country. Brijesh tells that his father was a conductor in state transport. Buying a cricket kit was like a dream, but we used to play with plastic balls. I used to practice by joining broken bats and sewing torn pads and gloves.

Elder brother gave training
He says, struggle comes in every person’s life, but some flourish and some disintegrate. I never gave up. Whenever I went on the field, people looked at me with pity. He used to say that even though he has polio, he comes to play cricket. I did not pay attention to these. I used to go to the field with my elder brother and got a lot of technical training from him. People who earlier looked at me with disdain now respect me. I think people should respond with their actions, then both the thinking and viewpoint of the society will change. It is said that when I am asked, what problem do you face in playing cricket, then I answer with a laugh, I have left every problem behind.
