Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Bharat Mandapam today (14 February) to participate in ‘Bharat Tex 2025’. During this, while addressing the program, PM Modi said that today we are the sixth largest textile and apparel exporter in the world. Our textile exports have reached Rs 3 lakh crore. It is a target to reach ₹ 9 lakh crore by 2030.
PM Modi said, ‘Today, India is becoming witness to the second event of India Mandapam India Tex. In this, along with our traditions, the possibilities of developed India are also being seen. It is a matter of satisfaction for the country that the seeds we have planted today is growing at a fast pace on the path of becoming a tree. India Tex is now being a mega global textile event.
Textile sector is getting tremendous boost due to this event
The event is providing tremendous boost to investment, export and overall development in the textile sector. In this event of India Tex, we also have visions of India’s cultural diversity through our costumes.
Last year, I spoke about 5F factors like Farm, Fiber, Fabric, Fashion and Foreign in Textil Industry. This vision is now becoming a mission for India. This mission is opening new routes of growth for farmers, weavers, designers and businessmen.
We are the world’s sixth largest textil and apparel exporter
Today we are the sixth largest textile and apparel exporter in the world. Our textile exports have reached Rs 3 lakh crore. Now our goal is that by 2030 we will take it to 9 lakh crore rupees.
This success is behind the hard work of a decade and a decade’s consistent policy. Foreign investment in our textile sector has doubled in the last 1 decade.
Textil is the highest employment industry in the country
Textil is one of the most important industries providing the most employment opportunities in the country. This sector is contributing 11% to India’s manufacturing.
This time in the budget, we have emphasized on mission manufacturing, all of you also come in it. Therefore, when investment is coming in this sector, growth is happening, then millions of textiles are getting the benefit of it.

Textil recycling market will reach $ 400 million
India’s textile recycling market is expected to reach $ 400 million in the next few years. While the global recycling market is expected to reach around $ 7.5 billion. If we move in the right direction, India can get a bigger share in it.
