New Delhi. England Cricket has announced its team for the ICC Champions Trophy. The Champions Trophy will start from February 19, 2025 in Pakistan and at a neutral venue. Along with this, England also announced its team for the ODI and T20 series to be played against India before the Champions Trophy. This series will be played between India and England from 22 January 2025. England and Wales Cricket Board has excluded Ben Stokes from the 15-member team. Stokes suffered a hamstring injury in the recently concluded Test series against New Zealand.
Ben Stokes had already said that he probably would not be able to play in the 8-team Champions Trophy tournament. But he had also indicated that if Brendon McCullum is made the coach of England in all three formats in January, then he can ask him about playing in the ICC Champions Trophy. He will be ready for this. However, it is difficult for Stokes to play at this time. Joe Root played his last ODI match in November 2023. After this he has returned. In recent times, Joe Root was not getting a place in the England ODI team.

England Cricket has expressed confidence in Joe Butler as captain for the Champions Trophy and limited overs series against India.
