Bad news for Tata-Mahindra! The world’s SUV king is ready to return to the Indian market, talks are going on with the CM of this state

New Delhi. American automobile company Ford is once again planning to establish its foothold in India. The company is considering restarting its export-oriented plant in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

A recent meeting between Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and Ford officials has further strengthened the possibility that Ford may re-enter the Indian market after almost three years.

CM met Ford officials
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin met Ford officials during his recent US visit to discuss the company’s decision to restart its plant in India. According to a Reuters report, Ford has also submitted a letter to the state government on the issue.

After the meeting, Chief Minister Stalin shared the information on social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “Very interesting discussion with the Ford Motors team! Explored possibilities of renewing Ford’s three-decade-old partnership with Tamil Nadu to restart manufacturing in Tamil Nadu.” He also shared some pictures with this post, in which he was meeting Ford officials.

Ford’s statement
Ford said in a statement that the company wants to use this plant again to produce vehicles for global markets. However, the company has not yet given official information about the vehicles to be manufactured in this plant or other details. Earlier Ford used to produce cars and engines in this plant, but after closing business in India, this plant became inactive.

Will Ford launch cars in India?
After the talks between the Tamil Nadu government and Ford, discussions about Ford’s possible return to India have intensified. However, Stalin’s statement makes it clear that Ford will mainly produce vehicles for export. It is not yet clear whether Ford will launch any new vehicle in India or not.

There has been speculation in the automobile industry for a long time about Ford’s possible comeback, and there is talk that the company may re-enter the Indian market with its popular SUV Ford Endeavour. However, the final decision and official announcement on this is expected in the future.
