Babar Azam may lose captaincy again, Rizwan may become his successor, amazing drama in Pakistan cricket

New Delhi. Pakistan’s white ball cricket team captain Babar Azam may have to lose the captaincy again. Experienced wicketkeeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan can be made the captain of Pakistan in all three formats. Currently, Babar Azam is captaining the Pakistan team in ODIs and T20s while Shan Masood is the captain of the Test team. According to a Geo News report, Rizwan is leading the race for captaincy. Recently, Babar was taken away from the captaincy in the Champions ODI Cup. This clearly shows that the team management is looking for a new captain for the future.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently announced five teams for the domestic tournament. The captains of these teams are Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Harris and Saud Shakeel. If reports are to be believed, Pakistan’s white ball team coach Gary Kirsten has already spoken to PCB officials and Babar Azam about this. Now preparations are underway to make Rizwan the captain in all three formats.

Under the captaincy of Babar, Pakistan team flopped in T20 and ODI World Cup
Babar Azam was given the command of the limited overs team for the second time on 31 March. Earlier, he had resigned from the captaincy after the team’s poor performance in the ODI World Cup 2023. But despite becoming the captain again, the Pakistan team performed poorly in the recently concluded T20 World Cup. Pakistan was defeated by the West Indies and US teams in a big upset. In the ODI and T20 World Cup, the Pakistan team could not even reach the knockouts.

Babar’s bat remained silent against Bangladesh
Pakistan recently suffered a defeat in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh at home. The Pakistani team captained by Shan Masood is facing a lot of criticism after losing at home. Babar’s bat was silent in this Test series as well. Seeing Babar’s disappointing performance, the veterans are raising questions on him. Pakistan has lost all five Tests under the captaincy of Shan Masood.
