Apple Gets Big Shock, Xiaomi Overtook Company in Global Smartphone Sales, Samsung Retains First Position

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi’s sales are increasing in the international smartphone market. In August, Xiaomi surpassed American device maker Apple to become the second largest smartphone company in terms of volume. Apple ranks third in this market. Last month, Samsung retained its first position in the international smartphone market.

According to market research firm Counterpoint’s Smartphone 360 Monthly Tracker, international smart fone Xiaomi has become the second largest company in terms of volume in the market. Xiaomi has overtaken Apple for the first time in three years. Increasing demand in markets like India has helped Xiaomi. The company has benefited from the launch of Redmi 13 and Redmi Note 13 series in the price category below $ 200. There has been no major change in Xiaomi’s shipments last month, but Xiaomi has been able to regain second place due to the decline in Apple’s sales ahead of the launch of the iPhone 16 series. However, Apple may regain the second position due to increasing demand for the iPhone 16 series in the coming months.

Counterpoint said that Xiaomi’s growth has been strong in the first half of this year. In the first half, the company’s smartphone volume grew by about 22 percent on a year-on-year basis. However, Xiaomi’s growth may decline in the second half due to the base effect.

Earlier this month, Apple launched the iPhone series. Pre-orders for these smartphones started last week. The company’s demand for the iPhone 16 Plus of this series has increased the most compared to previous iPhones. Apple is getting fewer pre-orders for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said in a blog post that demand for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus has increased on a year-on-year basis compared to the same models of the previous series. Apple has received about 10 percent more demand for the iPhone 16 on the first weekend of pre-orders and about 48 percent more for the iPhone 16 Plus. The iPhone 16 series is estimated to sell about 3.7 million units in the first weekend of pre-orders. This is about 12.7 percent less than the iPhone 15 series introduced last year.
