New Delhi. Shreyas Iyer, who is out of the Indian cricket team, has scored a double century in Ranji Trophy. He ended his 7-year long wait for a first class double century. Scored 200 runs in 201 balls for Mumbai against Odisha in the Ranji Trophy match on Thursday. Even after making the Indian Premier League franchise team Kolkata Knight Riders the champion, the team released captain Shreyas Iyer before the mega auction.

Shreyas Iyer has batted brilliantly in Ranji Trophy and scored a double century for Mumbai. This was his first maiden double century in 7 years. The last double century came against Australia in 2017 when he was playing for India A and scored an unbeaten 202 runs. For Mumbai, after captain Ajinkya Rahane was out on zero, Iyer, who came to bat at number five, made a blast. This batsman, who returned unbeaten after scoring 152 runs in the first day’s play, completed his double century on the second day. Hitting 24 fours and 9 sixes i.e. a total of 33 boundaries, he scored an innings of 233 runs on 228 balls.

Iyer, who was out of Team India, has returned to form. Had scored a century in his last match against Maharashtra. After this he left the match against Tripura and now scored a double century against Odisha. Iyer played his last Test against England earlier this year and was ruled out midway through the series due to a back injury. After this he was dropped from the team and his central contract also ended. On the first day against Odisha, Iyer played a fast innings and completed his century in just 101 balls which included 18 fours and four sixes. Iyer completed his double century in 201 balls with the help of 22 fours and eight sixes.
