The National Commission for Women (NCW) held a special two-day training called “Satellite in Your Hand” on May 30-31, 2024. It was to teach women how to use geo-spatial technology. They worked with the North Eastern Space Applications Centre and other groups.
What Happened: 72 women learned to use online tools like SchoolGIS and ISRO’s Bhuvan for things like farming, fishing, and managing water and forests. They also learned about handling disasters and environmental issues.
Special Guests: Smt. Delina Khongdup from NCW and other important people from space and science departments attended, showing their support.
The Big Picture: This training helps women get better at using important technology for helping society. It’s a big step for women to have equal chances in technical fields. The NCW hopes to do more programs like this to encourage women to be leaders and creators in geo-spatial technology.
